In this section of my website I’ll be sharing ways that you can use the beautiful global fabrics here at More Love Mama. I’ll share tutorials for sewing projects and no-sew projects. Even if you don’t know how to turn on a sewing machine, there are lots of great ways to use our fabrics to bring beauty to your home and wardrobe. So check back often for new ideas and tips!
Today’s tip is: Learn to Sew! Celebrate National Sewing Month!
Did you even know that there was a National Sewing Month??? Neither did I! But I am so excited to share it with all of you long time sewists and you new crafters who haven’t yet jumped into your first sewing adventure!
If you need some inspiration this month, there is even a website in honor of this amazing month: www.nationalsewingmonth.org
At this website you’ll find a great article with tips on how to buy your first sewing machine. My advice is to purchase the least expensive machine that you find at your local big box store. Not the pink kiddie sewing machine, but the basic Brother or Kenmore brand machines. You can find them for about $75. So buy yourself a present and then you’ll be able to make presents for all your family and friends! Buying a sewing machine today could mean saving money at Christmas time!
But remember, even if you can’t sew, I can! If you fall in love with our fabrics you can place a custom order for a bag, blanket, or applique t-shirt Or you can suggest a new project idea. I’ve made everything from custom kids dashikis and dresses, to Christmas stockings and Christmas tree skirts. Just visit my contact page and let me know what you’re interested in!
